A little prep goes a long way toward a smoother, more comfortable appointment. Here’s how to get your skin and hair ready before you come in.
For the best waxing or sugaring results, your hair should be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. For most clients, that means waiting at least 2 weeks after shaving before your appointment. If the hair is too short, the wax or sugar may not be able to grab it well, which can affect how smooth your results feel.
Avoid tanning beds, spray tans, and heavy sun exposure for 24 hours before and after your wax or sugar appointment. Freshly tanned or sun-exposed skin can be more sensitive, and we want your skin calm before we remove hair. Spray tans will be removed with a wax or sugar. Best to get one after your appointment with us. No need for crazy tan lines.
Not a must, but a good addition to first time appointment prep. Gently exfoliating 2-3 days before your appointment helps remove buildup and allows hair to come out more cleanly. Avoid harsh scrubbing the day of your appointment. Think gentle and consistent, not aggressive.
Hydrated skin is happy skin. Moisturizing daily helps keep the skin flexible and can make your wax or sugar appointment more comfortable. Dry skin can make hair more likely to break instead of being removed cleanly, which may lead to less smooth results between visits.
Before your appointment, let your esthetician know if you use products with retinols, AHAs, BHAs, acne medications, exfoliating acids, or prescription topicals.. Some products and medications can make skin more sensitive and it may not be safe to wax/sugar.
When in doubt, tell us. We’ll help you decide the best plan for your skin.
If you are planning a trip or special occasion, come in for 3 waxing or sugaring appointments first. These appointments are typically spaced 4 weeks apart. This way you will know how your skin responds to choose wether to come in 1, 2 or 3 days before the big event.
No need to fret if you are on your period. Wear a tampon and the appointment will go the same as it would if you were not on your period. No biggie!
Seriously. We’ve seen it all, and we don’t judge. Hair growth is normal. Skin texture is normal. Being nervous is normal, too. Our job is to make your waxing or sugaring appointment feel professional, private, and as comfortable as possible. At BRAZILIANS & BROWS, you are in good hands.
Most first-time clients leave saying, “That was way easier than I expected.”
If this is your first Brazilian wax or Brazilian sugaring appointment, you are in the right place. We’ll talk you through what to expect, check in on your comfort, and keep the appointment moving efficiently. You’re always in control, and our goal is for you to leave feeling smooth, informed, and confident.

YOU GOT THIS! 🦫

Your smooth results are not just about the appointment. What you do between visits is what helps prevent ingrown hairs, reduces irritation, keeps your skin calm, and makes every wax/sugar service easier and more comfortable.
Below are simple routines for taking care of your skin between appointments.
Right after a Brazilian, the skin can be warm and reactive. Calming care helps reduce redness and supports a smooth, comfortable recovery. She deserves some extra TLC!
Apply a bikini mask the evening of each Brazilian. The mask will help calm and soothe the area and can reduce redness. We have individual bikini masks that make it easy to grab one to apply that evening.
Pro tip: Put the mask package in the fridge when you get home. It will be exta-cooling when you apply it later. Ahh.
We know you want to feel how smooth it is. Freshly waxed/sugared skin still has open follicles that are just looking for some bacteria to sneak into them. We do not want that! If bacteria gets into those follicles bumps will happen. Typically they are red with a white head on them. Give the area some time before you feel the smooth.
A gentle pH balanced cleanser helps protect your skin barrier. This reduces dryness, stinging, and irritation and helps keep the bikini area comfortable between services. We love Oceana Body Wash. It is a great option to keep the pH in a healthy range for the whole body, including the bikini area.
Ingrown hairs happen when dead skin and oil trap new hair growth under the surface. Consistent exfoliation keeps follicles clear so hair can grow out smoothly.
We recommend that you us a serum (chemical exfoliant) two to three times per week to dissolve buildup and keep pores clear. These will also help kill any bacteria that may be present.
You also want to use a physical exfoliant one time per week to lift dead skin that the serum has been loosening and smooth any texture irregularities. Both Supracor finger mitts and the Turkish mitts from Sweet and True work well for this gentle mechanical exfoliation
Hydrated skin stays flexible and calm, which helps reduce sensitivity and keeps the skin barrier strong. Your service will feel more comfortable and improve how smooth you feel between visits. Hydrated hairs are also less likely to break like brittle ones do. Those broken hairs can curl and get trapped under the skin, often becoming ingrowns.
We recommend the same balm we apply after every Brazilian, the Hydrate + Heal Balm. It is deeply hydrating and antibacterial. The perfect combo for post Brazilian!
The 3-step system for calm, clear, and bump-free skin.
The Smooth Kitty Kit is your go-to for helping maintain smooth, healthy skin between waxing or sugaring services. The kit combines physical exfoliation, chemical exfoliation, and hydration to keep the skin balanced, clear, and comfortable. It prevents ingrowns before they start while calming post-service irritation.
Kit Includes:

When your cleanser is too harsh, skin can get dry and reactive. Gentle cleansing supports the skin barrier and can reduce irritation after waxing or sugaring. Oceana Body Wash is a great daily option to support healthy pH for the whole body. It smells amazing too!
Exfoliation keeps skin smooth and helps hairs grow out cleanly, especially on legs and other larger areas where dryness and buildup can lead to rough patches.
Sweet and True Tropical Turmeric Scrub is great to smooth and brighten the look of skin with a blend of papaya enzymes and golden turmeric. It has a light tropical scent. It uses both a chemical and mechanical element to gently dissolve dullness, smooth texture, and restore a healthy, even glow.
If you are not a scrub person, you can use a physical exfoliant like a Supracor hand mitt or a Turkish mitt from Sweet and True for gentle mechanical exfoliation. The Supracor mitt is nice to use to apply soap all over your body. Plus it is antibacterial, which. we love. The Turkish mitt is used after washing and you can actually see the dead skin that it knocks off. It's addictive!
Hydration helps prevent tightness, flaking, and irritation. Hydrated skin will release your hair more easily and help to reduce breakage during hair removal. You moisturize your face, so moisturize your body too. It will thank you.
Use the Daily Mantra and/or Amore Oil from Sweet and True for everyday moisture and glow.
PRO TIP: Apply lotion when your skin is still damp to lock in moisture.

After you have hair removal done on your face, give it a break for a couple days. Apply a soothing, calming mask that evening. Use a gentle cleanser without acids in it. Wait to start using your serums, other than a hyaluronic, for 48 hours. Make sure to apply moisturizer daily. If you are going to spend anytime in the sun, apply sunscreen and wear a hat. Gotta protect it to keep it looking young and healthy!
As long as your skin is feeling good and has no tenderness you can resume your normal skincare routine. We recommend wearing sunscreen daily. 🙂

Waxing and sugaring work best when you stay on a schedule. Most Brazilian clients come every 3 to 4 weeks to keep results smoother and maintenance easier. Over time, consistent waxing or sugaring can help hair grow back softer, finer, and be more manageable.
